About bodyWise & Gettyoga

Julie Aha—Owner

Often, when asked what I do, I often reply, "Help people manage pain." Whether mental, emotional, or physical, I find that awareness of the body is inevitably a wonderful starting point.

After receiving my master's degree at UCLA and not finding satisfaction for the questions that were motivating me, I ventured into things I had never explored: meditation, bodywork, yoga, dance, anatomy, music, early development, etc. It was a life-changing journey and gratefully I learned some practical things (compassion is at the top of the list). I value the opportunity to be with others to explore what arises from their own need for healing.

I've been a massage therapist since 2000, and also practice biodynamic craniosacral therapy and polarity therapy. I work with adults and teens, as well as moms, infants, and young children. I teach hatha yoga, emphasizing alignment, breathing, and meditation skills, and various forms of embodied dance.

To this I have added the following approaches—

• Family Constellation work, which addresses inter-generational patterns of trauma;

• Somatic Experiencing, which focuses on healing trauma via an in-depth understanding of how our nervous systems internalize overwhelm;

 • Pre-and-perinatal education, to help babies and adults enhance bonding and attachment patterns related to birth.

I love what I do, and love sharing it with others.
