About bodyWise & Gettyoga
Julie Aha—Owner
Often, when asked what I do, I often reply, "Help people find greater ease in their bodies, and reduce pain." Whether someone has mental, emotional, or physical concerns, I find that awareness of the body is inevitably a wonderful starting point.
After receiving my master's degree at UCLA and not finding satisfaction for the questions that were motivating me, I ventured into things I had never explored: meditation, bodywork, yoga, dance, anatomy, music, early development, etc. It was a life-changing journey. I value the opportunity to be with others to explore what arises from their own need for healing.
I've been a massage therapist since 2000, and also practice biodynamic craniosacral therapy and polarity therapy. I work with adults and teens, as well as moms, infants, and young children.
I teach yoga in way that elevates the natural intelligence of the human body. Specifically I focus on alignment-based yoga, emphasizing breath work, meditation skills, and yoga philosophy. I also teach various forms of dance designed to be healing and to cultivate self confidence.
To this I have added the following approaches—
• Family Constellation work, which addresses inter-generational patterns of trauma;
• Somatic Experiencing, which focuses on healing trauma via an in-depth understanding of how our nervous systems internalize overwhelm;
• Pre-and-perinatal education, to help babies and adults enhance bonding and attachment patterns related to birth.
I love what I do, and love sharing it with others.
